Mayhue Smithson was age 10 in 1870.
He was usually known as Mayhew and known to be a prosperous
farmer. He
bought the Dobson farm of 300+ acres on Flat Creek. He later
purchased the
Skinner place of 177 acres and later the Graham place of 100 acres.
After
Alice died he built a new barn and house. After Fanny died, he sold
and went
to live with his son.
He was first buried on the Smithson-Daniel farm cemetery on
Comstock Rd. and
then reburied, along with his wives, in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in
